Royal fans cannot stop talking about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s meeting with Beyonce and Jay-Z that happened last weekend. Both couples are extremely famous and made up of very successful people, so it surely looked like a great conversation went on in front of our eyes. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry met Beyonce and Jay-Z at a film premiere
Beyonce plays Nala the newly released Disney film, The Lion King, and recently attended its London premiere with her husband Jay-Z. The singer/actress extraordinaire actually also attended the movie’s Los Angeles premiere earlier this month with her daughter Blue Ivy.
Meanwhile, for Markle and Prince Harry, the premiere was date night. The two of them were clearly taking a break from their parenting duty to enjoy a night out with one another.
According to reports, Markle approached Beyonce and Jay-Z first on the red carpet while Prince Harry was still busy talking to someone else. Markle gave Beyonce and Jay-Z both a hug and Beyonce even called Meghan “my princess.” Prince Harry came over a while later and also embraced Beyonce while giving Jay-Z a handshake.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry bonded with Beyonce and Jay-Z over parenting
Beyonce started the baby conversation by telling Markle that Baby Archie was “so cute.” Jay-Z also congratulated the couple on the birth of their son.
Prince Harry reportedly asked about their twins Rumi and Sir, to which Beyonce responded: “They are not here. They don’t come on every trip…We left them at home. They would love to have been here.”
Prince Harry also shared with Beyonce and Jay-Z that their son has reached a new milestone in his life: being able to lift his head up.
Then, Jay-Z shared parenting advice with the new parents. “The best advice I can give you, always find some time for yourself,” the hip-hop mogul said. Considering the fact that Beyonce and Jay-Z have three children themselves, his words definitely come from a place of experience.
Did Beyonce and Jay-Z break royal protocol?
While the interaction between the two couples lasted for just a few minutes and seemed nothing out of the ordinary for a typical meeting between a group of stars, some royal fans noticed that Beyonce and Jay-Z might have broken a few rules.
According to a report by ET, Beyonce and Jay-Z arrived after Markle and Prince Harry and “disrupted royal security’s carefully laid plans.” Not only did it inconvenience the royals’ security team, but this move also allowed Beyonce and Jay-Z to upstage Markle and Prince Harry, which they were not supposed to do.
Another royal protocol that was broken was when Beyonce called Markle “my princess.” The correct way to address Meghan would be to call her “your royal highness.” Moreover, Markle is not technically a “princess” so that was incorrect in another way as well. Actor Billy Eichner, who plays Timon in The Lion King, revealed that there was an email sent out with a protocol of what to do when meeting Markle and Prince Harry, so Beyonce might have been aware at some point that she was doing something wrong.
However, it didn’t seem that the Sussexes were bothered by these mistakes at all because they were still warm and friendly to Beyonce and Jay-Z. In fact, Markle and Prince Harry are known to be a modern royal couple (and Markle herself has only been royal for about a year), so they probably do not get angry when people fail to adhere to certain strict royal rules.
