This is why Farrah Abraham became a DJ
During an interview with Maximo TV, Abraham explained how herDJ career took off. She said a lot of it had to do with her YouTube channel.
I’ve been producing my own music. I had a lot of fun creating my own music, and my YouTube channel has been blowing up. Everyone wanted more music videos, so I was like, ‘Let me tip tap toe back into this but with DJing.’ Sharing love, positive beats, good things around the world, and that’s just what I love. I live my life by that. It’s fitting, it’s time to DJ. Farrah’s in the house and it’s the best time.
Farrah Abraham’s music
Before the former Teen Mom star pursued DJing, shereleased an album titled My Teenage Dream Ended (she also has abook of the same name). Fader writer Duncan Cooper interviewedthe producer of Abraham’s album. Although Cooper initially gave the album aharsh review, he said his feelings about the album’s content changed afterspeaking with the producer, Mat Cothran:
In a Fader blog post at the time, I was harsher than I remember feeling. “Farrah’s drowning yelp of a voice is severely Auto-Tuned but seemingly programmed to the wrong key,” I wrote. “It’s shrill, but her music is nothing if not honest.” It’s that last point that matters, and more than I initially realized.
Cooper said Cothran released a song named after Abraham in the Spring of 2017. Cothran said the lyrics in Abraham’s 2012 album inspired a line in his song that had personal meaning:
This spring, the musician Mat Cothran released a song named after Abraham that featured this lyric: “Farrah sings to see dead dreams come alive / In another life, maybe I’d have been your child.” It’s thanks to him that she’s been on my mind.
Recently, he and I actually spoke about her music. “The outcry and hatred towards the album really upset me because I felt like people were being incredibly judgmental to this person who has been through a lot,” he said, “all because it didn’t sound like what they thought it should. The line about ‘maybe I’d have been your child’ was a really personal one for me because my mother had me at 18 and really did the best she could with that, but childhood is a whirlwind for everyone involved and having a child so young is difficult at best. I imagined what my own mother had been through and saw that in Farrah’s music, and it touched me.”
