ZOE Ball has been left "heartbroken" after her family's beloved pet cat Monkey was hit by a car and killed in a tragic accident at the age of two.
The 50-year-old star paid touching tribute to the stunning ginger feline on her Instagram page, with Monkey passing away on Friday [11 December].
Sharing a photo of the adored pet basking in the garden on a sunny day, Zoe wrote: "Our beautiful cat Monkey has gone to monkey heaven. 💔
"He was a great adventurer, so chatty, full of love & always up for a fireside cuddle.
"We are heartbroken. Thank you to the kind people who found him & called us. Rest well you magic ginger bundle. ✨✨✨".
Zoe's son Woody, who shot to fame on Channel 4 series The Circle, revealed more details of Monkey's untimely death on his own social media page.
Sharing a selection of photos of the cat, and some of their other family pet Toasty, Woody wrote: "Sad News. Monkey my lovely partner in crime was hit by a car last night 🙁
"He is no longer with us – a tragic accident took him too soon at not even 3 years old.
"I hope he’s climbing trees somewhere else now."
Both stars were inundated with supportive messages from their followers, with one writing: "This so bloody tragic, my heart goes out to you all".
Another wrote: "So sorry to hear. What a handsome boy."
A third commented: "That is so sad. Plenty of mischief to be had in cat heaven."
Woody, 19, is Zoe's son with ex husband Norman Cook – otherwise known as Fatboy Slim.
The pair, who split in 2016, are also mum and dad to 10-year-old daughter Nelly.
